The Baltimore Museum of Art is home to an internationally renowned collection of 19th-century, modern, and contemporary art. Founded in 1914 with a single painting, the BMA today has 90,000 works of art—including the largest holding of works by Henri Matisse in the world. Throughout the Museum, visitors will find an outstanding selection of European and American fine and decorative arts, 15th- through 19th-century prints and drawings, contemporary art by established and emerging contemporary artists, and objects from Africa, Asia, the Ancient Americas, and Pacific Islands. Two beautifully landscaped gardens display an array of 20th-century sculpture that is an oasis in the city.

We are committed to exhibitions and programs that will strengthen and sustain our community. Since its opening, the Walters has been a national leader in scholarship, conservation, and education. In 2006, the Walters trustees made the transformational decision to make access to the permanent collection free.

Part-time Position: Museum Education Events Assistant

Museum Education Events Assistants facilitate family festivals, weekly drop-in art activities, hands-on gallery activities, birthday parties, scout programs, preschool workshops, and family tours for Children and Family Programs. Assistants facilitate courses, lectures, seminars, workshops, performances, and receptions for Adult Programs. Evening and weekend hours are required. 1 year experience dealing with the public and working with children required.

Candidates must be extremely outgoing, customer service focused and able to deal with people at all levels; possess strong communication, organizational and interpersonal skills. Community arts, art education, or museum experience required. Maturity, ability to work well within a team, and flexible schedule a must. Monthly trainings and gallery teaching are required.
