Founded by artists, Mika Eubanks and Kelli Williams, the studio serves as a platform for emerging artists to express their creative voices in a collaborative space.The art showcased is a collision between fine and contemporary art ranging from performance garment and animation to painting and sculpture. Rift studio has three main functions: gallery, studio, and store.

Internship Position:

Rift Studio is currently looking for qualified Interns to be part of  the art team of the newly founded studio. There are dual requirements to this Internship: First, Interns will be required to create one successful community event or project that will take place or be displayed in the studio. Second, Interns will work in the studio revitalizing the space, supporting in the fabrication of art, and promoting the studio to the Baltimore area. Qualified applicants must be strongly self motivated,posses great communication and time management skills, and the ability to successfully work in a team environment.

Almanac Industries is a bookbinding and letterpress studio based in Baltimore, Maryland. Using screenprinted or sewn leather and a variety of fabrics we make journals, sketchbooks, and guestbooks. We also offer a selection of letterpress goods for the everyday as well as custom printing for any occasion. Our antique press fits wonderfully in the 19th century barn that is our studio. This location is the perfect home for us as our goal is for what we make to be used, loved, and to last.

Internship Position: General Intern

An intern at our studio would be involved in nearly every aspect of daily business, including, but not limited to – hand bookbinding, paper cutting, mock-ups, letterpress printing, packaging, shipping, blogging, Etsy upkeep and craft show prep. Our most important thing we focus on is the quality of our handwork and our relationships with clients.

Fulbright Fellowship participants pursue graduate or professional study, advanced research or English teaching in elementary and secondary schools or universities. Each year approximately 1,500 Americans traveling to more the 130 counties receive support from the Fulbright U.S. Student Program. The U.S. Student Program is designed to give recent B.S./B.A./BFA graduates, master’s and doctoral candidates, and young professionals and artists opportunities for personal development and international experience.

Most grantees plan their own programs. Projects may include university coursework, independent library or field research, classes in a music conservatory or art school, special projects in the social or life sciences, or a combination. An essential component of the grant is how the Fulbrighter “engages in the community” of their host country. The program promotes cross-cultural interaction and mutual understanding through engagement in the community and on a person-to-person basis in an atmosphere of openness, academic integrity, and intellectual freedom.

Recent MICA projects have involved traditional methods of weaving and natural dying in Peru, documentary photography in Panama, textile design in Cambodia, landscape painting in Iceland, a study of trade materials and their source cultures in Mauritius, and contemporary artistic expression in India.

The JCK Graduate Arts Award enables students or recent alumni with exceptional creative promise and significant financial need to pursue up to three years of study at an accredited graduate institution in the US or abroad. Art with a Heart is a non-profit organization dedicated to enhancing the lives of people in need by providing visual art classes to a wide range of underserved populations.

Part-time Positions:

• Teachers - Art with a Heart always has an open call for kind, caring and nurturing adults to lead and assist in its year-round classes in and around the Baltimore area.  Offering unique, custom programs at a variety of sites throughout the Baltimore area, Art with a Heart visits: group homes, senior citizen centers, assisted living facilities, community centers homeless shelters and drop-in centers, schools, hospitals and more.

Internship Positions:

• Program Assistants help implement the Art with a Heart core program.  Duties include, but are not limited to: creating art samples, managing and distributing art supplies to teachers, assisting at a site, promoting the organization at special events and more.
• The Graphic Design intern creates publications and promotional materials for the Art with a Heart organization and the HeARTwares store.
• The Summer Job Program Assistant supports this special and intensive summer session of working with youth in East and West Baltimore to create marketable art and learn soft job skills.

Mid Atlantic Arts Foundation was established in 1979 to promote and support multi-state arts programming. Over the years, MAAF has built a core of program initiatives designed to address specific issues of regional, national and international arts support. We do this by:

Our programming focuses on performing arts touring, jazz, the traditional arts, international engagement, filmmaking and touring, and artist fellowships.

Among its many services, MAAF administers the Individual Artist Awards (IAA) program for the state arts councils of New Jersey, Maryland, Pennsylvania and Delaware.  This artist fellowship program recognizes artistic excellence across disciplines with awards given in alternating years in visual arts, music, dance, theatre, literary arts and interdisciplinary arts.  Annually over 2,000 applications are received and processed for the various states.  We hold 20+ peer review panels in the fall, using highly recognized jurors from across the United States.  The states participating in this partnership award over $1 million to fellowship winners annually.

Internship Positions:

Internships for the IAA program begin in mid-to-late June and continue through August.  Exact start and end dates are negotiable.  MAAF recruits three interns annually and provides each a stipend of $1,000.  Interns gain an understanding of the grantmaking process for individual artists and have a chance to interact with artists from a range of disciplines.  They have primary responsibility for, or participate in: receiving applications and reviewing for completeness; providing technical assistance for applicants; contacting applicants for supplemental materials; and assisting in preparations for panel review.  Interns also receive a broad introduction to other functions of the organization.  While at MAAF, interns are considered staff members for the duration of the internship and attend all staff and board meetings, workshops, etc. as feasible.

The Community Arts Partnership (CAP) office offers MICA students the opportunity to engage in The Community Arts Partnership (CAP) program offers expanded professional development opportunities to undergraduate, post-bac, and graduates students with interests in community service through the fine and applied arts. CAP internships are designed to enrich and deepen students’ experiences during their academic careers, link them to the Baltimore community, and introduce them to new professional opportunities.

 

Internship Positions:

Participating MICA students are able to experience the dynamics of communities through, for example, running an after-school art club at a neighborhood recreation center, teaching art to elementary school students in their regular classrooms, making art with adults in rehabilitation for addiction or by painting murals to beautify a public space. Through CAP, students learn alongside experienced professional in a wide range of community situations, work with Baltimore public institutions and non-profit organizations, and develop leadership skills.
