Employer Profile: The Charm City Craft Mafia

www.charmcitycraftmafia.com

The Charm City Craft Mafia is a group of rowdy, creative, talented and (most importantly) crafty folk who work out of Baltimore – Charm City, USA. We hawk our wares through our websites, at craft shows and local stores. Now we have banded together to build a craftier world where our hip prints, adorable aprons, vintage jewelry, songbird music, bound books, precious pottery, swanky tiles, warm scarves and kitschy clothing are available to all.

We at the Charm City Craft Mafia are seeking an ambitious student to join us as Mafia Intern! The two main responsibilities of this internship are to assist our members with studio work and to help us prepare for our two annual craft shows, Pile of Craft (June 25th) and Holiday Heap (December 3rd).  The intern will work along side the Mafia communicating with vendor applicants, performing organizational tasks and marketing, contacting sponsors, as well as carrying out day-of-show tasks including setting up tables, decorating, assisting vendors, making food runs, etc. This internship is a wonderful opportunity for an artist who is interested in community building, hosting events, and the indie craft community. You must be motivated, flexible and fun. You will see the inner workings of the Mafia and what it takes to put on the best indie craft show in Baltimore! You will have the chance to work with a group of 13 zany and talented artists whose work includes painting, drawing, sculpture, weaving, bookmaking, ceramics and much more. This opportunity begins as soon as possible and can last through the semester and even beyond, if we find the right candidate. Additional tasks may include assistance with other art and craft shows, studio maintenance, etc.

Looking forward to getting crafty with you!

Additional studio assistantships are available with individual members of the Mafia including a weaver, potter, printmaker and more.
