The Columbia Art Center is a community center under the umbrella of the Community Services department of the Columbia Association. The Center holds art classes and workshops for all ages and skill levels all year long. It houses two galleries, five active studios including an extensive ceramics studio and glaze lab. The classes and activities offered at the Columbia Art Center are led by professional artists and community members.

Columbia Association Art Center is hiring Art Instructors and Art Camp staff for 2011.

Instructors teach children art methods, techniques and principles through creative projects or performance activities. This position is ideal for art students, new art teachers or teachers. Both Instructors and Counselors duties include working with children, K through grade 8, from 9-3:30, Monday – Friday for 8 weeks starting June 27th. Camp staff must be able to stand for up to 6 hours, work outside in summer temperatures (camp is mostly indoors), and attend mandatory camp training. Counselors must be at least 18 years old or a high school graduate. All employees are subject to federal and state background checks. Columbia Association Art Center is hiring School’s Out Leaders and Assistants. Leaders teach children art methods, techniques and principles through creative projects or activities. This position is ideal for art students, teachers and skilled creative people who love working with children. Instructors and Counselors duties include working with children, K through grade 8. School’s Out program staff must be able to stand for up to 6 hours. The School’s Out program occurs when Howard County Public Schools are closed. Art Center Birthday Parties are held on the weekends. All positions require mandatory training. All employees are subject to federal and state background checks.
