Internship Position:

We are seeking visual artists with either a background or interest in fine art presentation, traditional photographic print practices, or digital print media. We have three departments within the studio:

            1. framing
            2. traditional services
            3. digital services

Interns will work closely with specialists in each department, gaining hands-on experience in professional print production, or finishing, while being introduced to the business of running a small studio. Prospective interns should express a clear interest to work within one of the specific departments. However, time will be spent working within other departments as well. Duties may include darkroom printing, scanning, image manipulation or restoration, archival pigment printing, cutting mats, mounting, laminating, and framing, as well as variety of other duties.

Internship Positions:

Baltimore Clayworks has provided opportunities for college students through Summer Internship Program for more than 20 years.  The interns will have an opportunity to work and gain hands-on experience in the following departments and fields: development, public relations, marketing, special events, gallery, exhibition design, graphic communication, education, children’s program, studio maintenance and technical support, community arts, finance, etc.  After this internship with us, many of previous interns have acquired jobs in non-profit art organizations and other agencies.   We can be your great additional reference for your future career.

While this position is non-paying, college-credits can be arranged with an approval from your academic advisor.  Interns may enroll in one adult class free of charge through our Mt. Washington education program.  Interns must receive approval from his/her supervisor and Education Coordinator before qualifying for a complimentary class.

Baltimore Speaks Out!, Wide Angle’s middle school media education program, is seeking interns to both work in the classroom and help with project administration. This is a great opportunity to gain experience teaching youth media to young people ages 10-15. Teaching responsibilities will include assisting in the classroom twice a week from 3:00-6:00, either on Mondays and Wednesdays at the Herring Run Library or Tuesdays and Thursdays at the Orleans Street Library, from March through May. Administrative responsibilities will include entering student information and attendance data, making phone calls to students or parents, and helping with lesson planning or preparation.
