Chesapeake Shakespeare Company, the Baltimore area’s third largest professional theater company, was founded in 2002 with a mission to create innovative performance and education programs that bring the works of William Shakespeare and other classics to life. The company is committed to making the arts more accessible to the community by intensifying the connection between audiences and artists and some of the greatest works ever written. CSC is a collection of over 50 artists who have made an artistic home at CSC and are the major force behind its success. This year, the company will be expanding into a new theater space located in downtown Baltimore.

Internships:

Costume–The costume intern works under the supervision of the Resident Costume Designer. The intern assists in the shop with costume construction and alteration, wardrobe duties, production set-up and strike, and maintenance of stock/inventory. Accurate sewing skills and a working knowledge of garment construction are required. A portfolio is required.

Prop/Scenic–Intern will work under the supervision of the Technical Director. Duties may include properties repair, sewing, carpentry, painting, prop and furniture inventory/database work, and load-in, set-up and strike of shows. Experience with wood construction and the use of standard shop tools is required. Ability to solve problems and work independently is essential.

Administrative–In an intimate environment, the intern will have close contact with managerial personnel, exposing them to many aspects of a career in theatre administration. The intern will participate in various day-to-day organizational duties by providing support for the Business, Development, Marketing, and Box Office/Audience Services departments.
