The Baltimore Office of Promotion & The Arts, a 501 (c) 3 non-profit organization, produces events and arts programs as well as manages several facilities. It is the official Baltimore City Arts Council.

BOPA coordinates Baltimore’s major events including New Year’s Eve and July 4th celebrations at the Inner Harbor, Artscape which is America’s largest free arts festival,  Baltimore Book Festival, Baltimore Farmers’ Market & Bazaar, School 33 Art Center’s Open Studio Tour and the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Parade. In the past, BOPA has been called upon to orchestrate or assist with large-scale city events.  The activities include the Ravens Rally Super Bowl Send-Off and the Ravens Super Bowl Victory Parade in 2001 and 2013; Miss USA in 2005 and 2006; Baltimore’s Celebration of the Army-Navy Game in 2000 and 2007; the Star-Spangled Salute to Michael Phelps in 2008, the Star-Spangled Sailabration in 2012 and the NFL Kick-Off in 2013. Currently, BOPA is preparing for exciting upcoming events in 2014 including the Star-Spangled Spectacular.

The Baltimore Office of Promotion & The Arts manages the Creative Baltimore Fund Grants, Baltimore Mural Program, Free Fall Baltimore, PNC Transformative Art Project, MECU Neighborhood Grant Program and Bright StArts Workshops For Children. BOPA oversees historic attractions and sites including the Top of the World Observation Level, School 33 Art Center, The Cloisters and the Bromo Seltzer Arts Tower.

Internships:

Graphic Design Internship, Baltimore Office of Promotion & The Arts, 10 E. Baltimore Street

The internship is designed to provide the student with a broad-based learning experience, so that they are exposed to the designing required for the promotion and marketing for events of a national caliber.   Interns will assist with production of collateral material for  upcoming events and promotions, which include: Artscape, Baltimore Book Festival, Baltimore Farmers’ Market & Bazaar, July 4th Celebration, as well as satisfying the graphic needs of our satellite facilities:  Bromo Seltzer Arts Tower, Cloisters Castle, School 33 Art Center, and Top of the World Observation Level.  The intern will work all hours of Artscape, July 18-20, 2014.

Visual Arts Internship, Baltimore Office of Promotion & The Arts, 10 E. Baltimore Street

The Visual Arts internship is a part-time unpaid practicum.  The intern will learn about the successful production of a large-scale arts festival. Interns will research arts festivals, artists and interactive projects, assist with logistical planning, assist with various ongoing festival projects, maintain an archive of visual arts components. The intern will work all hours of Artscape, July 18-20, 2014.

Public Art Internship, Baltimore Office of Promotion & The Arts, 10 E. Baltimore Street

The Public Art Intern is a part-time unpaid position, reporting to the Public Art Program Staff.  The primary responsibilities of this position are to assist in the administration of the public art program, coordination of public art projects and provide related support to the Public Art Staff. Duties include, but are not limited to assisting with the daily administration of the Public Art Program, the coordination of Public Art Commission Meetings, all aspects of exhibition installation in conjunction with the Artscape Festival and Sondheim Prize Exhibitions, and the administration of the Maintenance and Conservation of Public Artworks in the City. The intern will work all hours of Artscape, July 18-20, 2014.

School 33 Art Center Internship, Baltimore Office of Promotion & The Arts, 10 E. Baltimore Street

The School 33 Art Center internship is a part-time unpaid practicum.  Projects include but are not limited to assisting with logistics for ongoing Robert Rauschenberg Foundation Grant projects and major events such as Open Studio Tour and Artscape, various aspects of the Gallery Exhibition and Educational programs, and update and create copy for School 33’s website.
