Progressive Arts Alliance inspires students to reach their full potential by providing unique and relevant learning experiences using contemporary arts and 21st century media.  Our organization provides dynamic art education opportunities in schools, libraries, recreation centers, and other community spaces. Progressive Arts Alliance’s professional artist-educators bring the magic of PAA’s programs into classrooms and community spaces throughout the year. Our artist-educators have a strong commitment to designing curriculum and interactive arts learning experiences that demonstrate the academic rigor of the arts. They represent a variety of art forms and media and many are interested in interdisciplinary work that fuses their art form with another art form.

Part Time:

Title: Artist –Educator (PAID)

Location: Cleveland, Ohio

Job Description:  We are currently looking for one or more enthusiastic, highly committed instructors to teach arts integration through in-school residencies, Saturday workshops, and after-school programs with elementary and middle school students. Ideal candidates will have experience teaching one or more of the following: Stop-motion animation; Basics of graphic design; Web design using iWeb or similar; Video production and editing in Final Cut and iMovie; Printmaking; Bookbinding; Sculpture; Installation; Podcast recording; Audio recording with Garage Band.  Qualified candidates must be available at least 2 days per week, Monday through Friday, between 8:00 am – 4:00 pm for in-school programs, 3:00 – 6:00 pm for after-school programs, and/or on Saturdays between 9:00am – 5:00 pm for weekend workshops.

Excellent written and oral communication skills and reliability are a must. Teaching experience is required and experience working with students aged 13 and younger is preferred. We are an all-Macintosh organization and require that our instructors are tech-savvy and experienced Mac users.

Internships:

Title: Studio Assistant  (PAID)

Location: Cleveland, Ohio

Job Description:  We have a summer internship opportunity for a qualified creative individual interested in working with youth. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working as an assistant to a professional artist.  Basic experience in one or more of the following is required: Stop-motion animation; Basics of graphic design; Web design using iWeb or similar; Video production and editing in Final Cut and iMovie; Printmaking; Bookbinding; Sculpture; Installation; Podcast recording; Audio recording with Garage Band.  The internship would consist of 30 hours a week from June to mid August.

Title: Maker Corps Intern (PAID)

Location: Cleveland, Ohio

Job Description: Progressive Arts Alliance is a 2014 Maker Corps Host and is looking for creative individuals interested in working with youth.  Corps Members will be employed at Progressive Arts Alliance for the summer of 2014 to engage children and families in creative projects, such as kinetic sculptures, that develop problem-solving skills, while gaining experience serving as community leaders.  We are looking for individuals who have an interest in “making;” concentrations may align with industrial design, interactive sculpture, product design, and more.

Title: Video Editing Intern (PAID)

Location: Cleveland, Ohio

Job Description:  Progressive Arts Alliance provides an exciting opportunity to expand your portfolio, gain experience editing, shooting, and use your creativity to help document and showcase dynamic arts programs and student performances. Video Production and Editing Interns shoot footage of our workshops and student performances. The position also allows interns to edit video of performances, promotional videos, compilations and more. Responsibilities also include creating finished DVDs with menus and animated title screens as needed.  This position also includes work as Studio Assistant to our Artist-Educators for our in-school and after-school video and animation programs. This internship provides a great opportunity to experience working directly with film and video artists in the classroom.

Length of commitment: 1 semester. Positions are available in the fall, spring, and summer. Anywhere between 5-30 flexible hours per week depending on intern’s availability.

Qualifications: Must be Macintosh proficient, have video editing experience using iMovie and Final Cut, and have experience shooting video.
