The Real News Network (TRNN) is a non-profit, viewer-supported, daily video news and documentary service. Its mission is two-fold: to provide daily television news imbued with verifiable facts, history, and context for an international audience and to serve as an educational and media resource for the greater Baltimore community. Since 2007, IWT’s web-based news outlet The Real News Network (TRNN) has produced over 5,000 stories, which have been viewed more than 50 million times. The website, therealnews.com, receives over 40 thousand visits a day.

Unpaid/ Internship/ Summer

We will be launching a live program on Capitol Hill and we’re looking for tech-savvy, energetic students who want to the experience of editing and shooting on Capitol Hill. You must be enrolled in an accredited college or university, majoring in media, communications, broadcasting, and/or related fields. The internship may also be applied towards academic or work-study credit for students willing to work a minimum of 20 hours per week, to fulfill their requirements. Some remote work may be required. You will only need to be available Tuesday-Thursday.

Videographer/Editor Intern Responsibilities

Interns will learn and expand their knowledge and skills under the supervision of the TRNN Washington Bureau Chief. During the course of their internship, students will learn the basics of studio production, from pre-production to post-production through the following (duties are not limited to this list):

* Shooting, lighting for stand ups, interviews, and press conferences * Editing packages
* Coordinating with Baltimore office on technical matters

Videographer/Editor Intern Qualifications

* On track with accredited university’s degree requirements * Organized equipment manager
* Ability to communicate well in a professional environment * Experience with Adobe Premiere or Final Cut Pro a must

* Experience shooting with HD cameras and reasonable knowledge of audio * Punctual and proactive with a willingness to learn
* Ability to work independently and within a team
* Deadline and detail-oriented

If you dare to ask, in whose interests is this policy? What special interest groups are behind legislation? And what would policy look like if it was in the interest of everyday people? Then you’re the candidate we’re looking for. You must be enrolled in an accredited college or university, majoring in media, communications, broadcasting, and/or related fields. The internship may also be applied towards academic or work-study credit for students willing to work a minimum of 20 hours per week, to fulfill their requirements. Some remote work may be required. You will only need to be available Tuesday-Thursday.

Production Intern Responsibilities

Interns will learn and expand their knowledge and skills under the supervision of the TRNN Washington Bureau Chief. During the course of their internship, students will learn the basics of show production, from pre-production to post-production through the following (duties are not limited to this list):

* Chasing potential guests
* Pulling soundbites and finding visual research * Performing successful technical checks

Production Intern Qualifications

* On track with accredited university’s degree requirements
* Organized
* Ability to communicate well in a professional environment, through phone or email
* Experience with all Google Applications, a plus (Gmail, Google Docs, Google Calendar, etc.) * Punctual and proactive with a willingness to learn
* Ability to work independently and within a team
* Interest in Washington news is a must
* Deadline and detail-oriented

Unpaid/ Internship/ Summer

TRNN is currently looking for energetic students enrolled in an accredited college or university, majoring in media, communications, broadcasting, and/or related fields. The internship may also be applied towards academic or work-study credit for students willing to work a minimum of 20 hours per week, to fulfill their requirements.

Intern Responsibilities 

Interns will learn and expand their technical knowledge and skills under the supervision of TRNN studio technical staff. During the course of their internship, students will learn the inner workings of a studio, from pre-production to post-production through:

* Researching and editing broll
* Performing successful technical checks
* Learning proper setups for a variety of studio shoots
* Tricaster 255 operation
* Tracking assets on multiple servers
* Hands-on experience with studio equipment
* Using FCP/CS6 editing software to edit pieces
* Upkeep of various project management software

Intern Qualifications

* On track with accredited university’s degree requirements
* Beginner to intermediary skills in editing software (Final Cut, Adobe Premiere)
* Basic knowledge of camera and microphone controls
* Experience with all Google Applications, a plus (Gmail, Google Docs, Google Calendar, etc.)
* Punctual and proactive with a willingness to learn
* Ability to work independently and within a team
* Tech savvy
* Deadline and detail-oriented
