Exhibit Fabrication Intern

Unpaid/ Internship/ Summer 2016

Help us design, prototype, test, fabricate and install new hands-on exhibit components. Learn to work with new material and tools while creating functional pieces that our visitors will use for years to come. The main assignment will be to create fun and challenging components for our ‘Keep it Moving’ marble wall activity.

Qualifications:

Required:
> Extensive experience safely using all common woodworking tools including bandsaw, drill press, miter saw, and especially the table saw. Router and router table are also helpful but not required.
> Ability to quickly communicate ideas and designs through sketches and/or 3D computer models

Helpful:
> Experience with mechanical and/or electrical device creation or maintenance
> Experience with CNC router operation and toolpathing

Early Childhood Educator

Paid/ Part Time/ Dates: TBD

Are you looking for a new and different experience every day? Do you enjoy working with people? If so, join the Kids Room team. Engage our youngest visitors with fun hands-on activities and interact with children birth to age eight and their families as they learn through play in our dynamic museum environment. Responsibilities include: working with the general public, and maintaining a clean and safe early childhood exhibit space. Ability to exercise outstanding problem solving skills and experience with young children in a group setting are both highly desired. The museum is open seven days a week and we are looking for availability weekdays and weekends.

Qualifications:

• Experience with young children

• Ability to provide excellent guest service to museum visitors

• At least one year of college coursework completed

• Ability to pass a background check
