Position Purpose: To drive the high quality and effective execution of visual design on specific client engagements through production and collaboration.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

Execute and deliver high quality design based on client goals and contemporary design concepts
Complete assigned creative milestones on time and with a strong understanding of the project guidelines
Meet and exceed the client’s and team’s creative vision
Collaborate with project team and design leads to ensure creative direction is carried through a project lifecycle, from concept to product launch to client hand off
Collaborate with project team members to follow and advance creative processes
Apply your creativity to come up with methods to approach a design problem, and voice those ideas and suggestions to the team
Follow up with questions or ideas to help the creative process
Take input and advice from client and team and collaborate to move a project forward
Contribute to a positive, creative atmosphere
TECHNICAL SKILLS

Advanced skills in Adobe Creative Cloud and other digital design programs, such as Sketch
Familiar with designing for Content Management Systems, like WordPress and Drupal
Understanding of the Bootstrap or other frameworks, and how they shape a digital design approach
Proficient with Google Suite and familiar with project management software, such as Basecamp
InVision experience is a plus
DESIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor’s degree in graphic design preferred, not required with acquired experience
1 to 3 years of graphic design work experience in web and/or mobile design applications
Portfolio required exhibits a mastery of graphic design principles (typography, form, color, composition, grid)
Project types preferred: Responsive web design, print design, branding and logo design, mobile app design

Creative Engineer

Mindgrub is looking for a talented web developer to join our growing team in Baltimore, MD. Our ideal candidate has a strong attention to detail and finely honed development skills with great knowledge of and experience building sites with WordPress.

Job Title: Creative Engineer
Department: Design Department, Creative Team
Reports to: Vice President of Creative Strategy
RESPONSIBILITIES

Developing custom WordPress sites and landing pages for our clients and internal teams.
Maintenance and troubleshooting of existing sites.
Working with designers, project managers, and other developers to find creative solutions to client challenges.
Research on new techniques and development of tools to improve quality and efficiency of our work.
QUALIFICATIONS

You should have very solid responsive HTML and CSS skills and be comfortable working with PHP and JavaScript.
Great working knowledge of WordPress and common plugins is a must ( we use ACF and Gravity Forms on most projects ).
You should be comfortable using version control and cringe at the thought of someone not using it ( we use Git ).
You should know your way around some modern front end practices and tools ( we use Bootstrap, SCSS, Gulp, and NPM on most projects ).
You don’t need to be a systems wizard but you should be able to maintain a local development environment, move sites between servers, and get your hands dirty in the command line if needed. We use Pantheon to make most of this a breeze.
You spend time thinking about how best to organize your code and make it readable for others.
You should have good communication skills and a positive attitude when working with coworkers. We learn and grow by collaborating and sharing knowledge.
You should have a good feel for user experience and an eye for good design. You take pride in building beautiful and usable custom fields. You will be working closely with designers to ensure we deliver a quality product that looks great and is easy to use.
NICE TO HAVE

Experience with other content management systems ( Drupal, Expression Engine, etc ) is a big plus.
Experience with modern JavaScript frameworks ( Angular, React, etc ) to supplement your CMS work would be great but not required.
Knowledge of accessibility and SEO best practices.
DESIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Computer Science or other relevant degree ( unless you can show equivalent work experience).
Minimum of 2 years of WordPress development experience.
