Employer Profile: Custora, New York, NY

custora.com

We’re looking for sharp designers to help us make things.

Things like the building upon the world’s best software-as-a-service predictive marketing analytics platform and its supporting marketing web pages and mini-sites and whatever else needs cooking.

Maybe other things like direct mail magazines and unforgettable emails and TV commercials and pie-graph cookies and print collateral and custom squirrel suits and yes we’re open for suggestions.

We’re small and fast and rarely furious. Almost never.
Andy was really mad this one time but it was completely justified.

You’ll work side by side with our marketing team to help share our story with the world and communicate what we do and why it matters.

Custora is an established, profitable business delivering serious value to some of the best retailers in the world. But in many ways we’re still very much an experiment. Our Head of Design and CEO are both IDEO alum so design-thinking drives everything we do.

We’re building a place where interested and optimistic people can seek fulfillment in creating things that help further our mission of making data more useful. It’s an amazing opportunity to embrace fascinating intellectual, functional and communication challenges.

Custora is an equal opportunity employer. We value diversity at our company. We don’t discriminate on the basis of race, religion, color, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, marital status, veteran status, disability status, or socioeconomic status.

Sitting on your other side will be our sales folks who will be thrilled to collaborate with you on presentations, reports, illustrations and other mysterious assignments.

And situated both in front and behind you will be a collection of Customer Success Specialists and Data Scientists and who will say things like “Oh I still need to merge in the latest covariate updates with DB master…” but not necessarily to you just sort of to the room while thinking out loud. They are incredibly smart and a pleasure to work with on things like infographics and presentations.

UI Interaction Designer

Overview

You love to build things. Sometimes things to be held, and sometimes things to be clicked or touched. You explore problems with pencil and test them with pixels. You’ve spent a surprising amount of time considering what a button says, where it’s positioned, and how it changes. Decoding complex systems gets you fired up, in a good way. Maybe you have a cat, and the cat’s name is Tufte. Or maybe it’s Mittens and you mapped her daily napping locations into an elegant and informative composition.

If this is you — or maybe not exactly you but you’re nodding your head and thinking man I hate cats but otherwise yeah this is sounding good — then it’s really nice to meet you.

We’re a small marketing software startup that’s obsessed with making data useful. We’ve come a long way in a few years and work with the some of the best retail brands in the world (many of which are confidential) to improve how they understand the behavior of their customers to build better, more effective marketing campaigns.

As an interface designer, you’ll have the opportunity to shape the evolution of our platform. Our goal is to build world-class enterprise software that’s as beautiful and easy to use as it is transformative for businesses.

In addition to our marketing dashboard and email-campaign platform, you’ll help expand on our e-commerce metrics service, the Custora E-commerce Pulse, as well as various marketing mini-sites and campaigns as they arise.

Qualifications

2-4 years of professional experience preferred

Demonstrable prototyping and collaboration skills

Strong ability to establish and articulate design systems

Accountable and self-guided

Proficiency with wire-framing and prototyping tools (Sketch, Omnigraffle, CS, etc)

Bonus: Unbridled optimism and a voracious hunger to build amazing things
